Techbits

Greg
Techbits are a brain child of Greg Hess, who initially started them on the Discreet Forum, then moved them here to a permanent home; they are gathered, (chewed up) and processed by Greg Hess and Thomas Bruno, an all around good guys, hardware experts and 3DLuVr staff/contributing authors.

An excellent review of raid setups and systems. For those of us who believe that 16 hard drives is just not enough.

A massive undertaking of titanic proportions...only without the iceberg. An absolute MUST READ. Tom reviews the Firegl 4, the Wildcat 5110, and the Gloria III. CHECK IT OUT NOW.

Intel does a bit of snipping to their new Coppermine line so they can increase prices.

Remember the new coppermines do NOT run on the old coppermine motherboards.

Looking for a Geforce 3 Ultra? Does 128 Megs or DDR on a 300/600 gf3u card tempt you? Are you drooling right now? Well these cards aren't out yet, and neither is the speed rumor confirmed, but digitlife took it upon themselves to take an ordinary gf3 and clock it to 300/590. =)

How Hot is too hot? Satan's domain hot, or just Death Valley hot? Overclockers throws up some important info about chip heat output at various speeds and voltages.

When two pimps collide. Tualatin vs Pentium 4. The Dual Wars. It seems that some engineers showcased a dual T system, and it completely annilated the Dual 1.7 Xeon system. (There are no dual Tualatin systems planned EVER) Intel continues to shoot themselves in the foot with the Pathetium 4.

Via has announced a DDR P4 Platform for Mid August. With DDR being substaintally cheaper and faster then rambus, this may give the pentium IV a much needed boost to its expensive word processing and web surfing abilities.

Alot of people ask me for hardware advice and troubleshooting help. The most common problem is an underpowered system, mainly in amd systems, but sometimes in intel as well. Remember that the power supply is a CRUCIAL component to your new computer and don't waste money on a half assed one. Here's a list of recommended AMD power supplies.
