Free 3D tracker for non-commercial use Posted by: Schloerby Source: University of Manchester Date: Sun Aug 11 2002 The University of Manchester has released their 3D tracker ICARUS as freeware for non-commercial use.
"ICARUS is a suite of software packages designed to enable the calibration of image and video sequences, and the reconstruction of geometric models of real scenes from those sequences."
The ICARUS feature set comprises:
 Lens Distortion Removal
 Image and Video Sequence Calibration
Free-movement and pan/tilt/zoom camera motions supported
 Automatic and semi-automatic feature tracking
 2D and 3D tracking export
Calibration data export to Newtek's Lightwave 6.0+
Garbage matte support, including keyframing and automatic tracking
Automatic mosaic generation and motion segmentation to remove moving objects from panning sequences
 Video sequence stabilization
 Geometry Reconstruction:
Once image or video data has been calibrated, interactive techniques are used to reconstruct geometric models of environments. Surface textures may also be extracted from the image data, and models may be saved in VRML97 and Lightwave LWO2 formats.
