Source: Press Release
 Date: Wed Mar 03 2004
New Orleans, LA March 3, 2004 - Turbo Squid, home of the worlds largest collection of royalty-free 3D assets and worldwide publisher for the Discreet Certified 3ds max Plug-in Program, today announced the formation of a new business unit, branded as Turbo Squid Studios.

Turbo Squid Studios will exist to promote and expand the library of 3D content currently available at www.turbosquid.com through new ventures. Industry leader Brian Gaffney will head the new division.

Turbo Squid has the largest library of high quality 3D assets from over 6700 artists around the world, noted Gaffney. The goal of Turbo Squid Studios will be to explore new and untapped markets as a way to provide additional income for these artists. As 3D display technology becomes more pervasive, the demand for high quality assets will continue to grow. Turbo Squid Studios will work with our artist partners to provide the products these new markets require.

After beginning his career in the laser optics industry specializing in 3D holography, Gaffney spent seven years at Discreet, a Division of Autodesk. As the Senior Director of Worldwide Business Development, Brian was responsible for forging successful partnerships with companies such as da Vinci, Inc; Sony Broadcast Corp; and Microsoft. As the Director of Sales for the Americas, Gaffney was instrumental in bringing the Academy Award winning visual effects product, Inferno to market.

Gaffney was credited as an advisor of visual effects for the Oscar winning documentary, The Last Days, produced by the Shoah Foundation and Steven Spielberg in 1999. By mid 2001, Brian joined a commercial post production and 3D content company and produced theatrical spots for Activisions Spiderman - The Game and co-produced the animation of over 140 interstitials for Electronic Arts Lord of the Rings The Two Towers. Brians most recent role was V.P. of Sales and Marketing for MTI Film LLC, the leading provider of restoration software for Film, Television and the creation of HD DVD masters.

Brian is the ideal leader to run Turbo Squid Studios, said Andy Wisdom, President of Turbo Squid, Inc. Brian has a unique understanding of the markets we serve and a clear vision of the future possibilities for 3D content. We are excited to have him on board.
