About SIGGRAPH Studio
This year's theme for the Studio is Utopia/Dystopia. Taking its cue from the 1927 silent masterpiece "Metropolis," by Fritz Lang, the Studio will transform its section of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center into a multi-leveled city complete with pleasure gardens, urban centers, and underground factories.
The Studio is a "hands-on" venue that allows conference attendees to actually sit down at various machines and try out software/hardware combinations. It is the only venue at SIGGRAPH where the content is created on site by the conference attendees. Artists and technologists alike have been known to spend the entire conference hanging at The Studio.
The Studio focuses on teaming technologists with artists to imagine, create, and collaborate on the state-of-the-art in a computer graphics laboratory. It will showcase applications that demonstrate unique paradigms in a hands-on venue.
The Studio provides a working laboratory for conference attendees showcasing high-end computer workstations, a multitude of software featuring 3D design and print technologies, and an array of professional, large-format printers showing the latest in print and color technologies. The Studio will provide a stimulating environment to participants and observers alike.
