Latest CINEMA 4D Upgrade Offers Big Punch For A Small Price

 Date: Mon Nov 03 2003
MAXON, November 3, 2003 - MAXON's furious development cycle continues as yet another upgrade to the acclaimed CINEMA 4D is available. CINEMA 4D R8.5 provides a host of new features for the basic CINEMA 4D package and the Advanced Render module. This is the third significant upgrade to CINEMA 4D R8, but only the first with a small update fee. MAXON has strived to include something for everyone including numerous workflow enhancements and extra features. Motion graphics artists will no doubt be pleased to hear about great new additions such as FBX support and Vector Motion Blur. And R8.5 also caters for the more general user by offering countless workflow enhancements and powerful new features.

Additions and improvements to the CINEMA 4D basic package include a completely reworked Material Editor. Now users can customize the previews in terms of size and object type to have better visual feedback. All SLA shaders, SLA Baker and DirtyNuts have been fully and seamlessly integrated into the program and enhanced for overall workflow improvement. Full access to all parameters via XPresso means more control over surfaces. New shaders are also part of this upgrade; a new Layer Shader offers stackable material functionality at ease, the new Ripple shader creates amazing water surface effects, and the new SplineShader gives additional control when applying materials onto objects.

Important to all industry professionals is the inclusion of an importer/exporter for the industry-leading FBX format. This format allows users of other production tools in the industry (such as Kaydara's MOTIONBUILDER) to share and exchange not only resources, but in some instances, complete project files with CINEMA 4D.

Other significant augmentations have been made to the Bones system to make them smarter, faster, better and compatible with FBX. Better Boole, the well known Boolean operations plugin, has now been incorporated into the program. Compositing artists will also love the new Camera Mapping Feature, which allows easy 3D compositing without texture distortion.

MAXON has also added a direct menu link from CINEMA 4D to the BuyCreative.com digital marketplace, where creative professionals can showcase and sell their work in 3D models, audio, software and plugins, as well as vector art, textures and more.

Significant enhancements have been added to the Advanced Render module priced at a fraction of their real value. Working with the renowned team at Cebas, MAXON's programming team has added Subsurface Scattering, a sophisticated light distribution algorithm that takes into account the slight translucency and reflective properties of skin and other objects.
Also included is Vector Motion Blur, a long awaited feature providing the fastest and most effective blurring of objects in motion. This new feature is completely incorporated into CINEMA 4D and therefore offers motion blur for every object. Additionally, post effects can now be rendered as a separate layer through CINEMA 4D's multipass rendering option. That is an extra-added bonus, especially for After Effects users utilizing the unprecedented AEC output which is already a part of the program. Finally, Object GI rendering rounds out the fantastic feature set of this significant upgrade, by reducing noise in radiosity rendered animations even further.

Again, MAXON beats the competition, by offering an update with powerful new features at a very small price and by continuing to offer the same free support and service, customers have come to expect.
