BOULDER, CO - June 26, 2003 - Today Electric Rain�, Inc. launched FLASH ILLUMINATIONS, an experimental showcase project designed to demonstrate the power of utilizing Macromedia Flash MX and Swift 3D to create compelling real-world 3D Macromedia Flash applications. The new site, which can be publicly viewed at http://www.swift3d.com/illuminations/, is receiving acclaim for its cutting-edge implementation of 3D with Macromedia Flash and is the latest in a string of sites created with Swift 3D to be recognized by FlashForward's Flash Film Festival for excellence in the 3D category.
"I created FLASH ILLUMINATIONS with the intention to inspire, educate, interact and amaze," said Jim Foley, Lead Multimedia Developer at Electric Rain. "The project's aim is to teach new users the power of adding 3D to their Macromedia Flash projects and inspire current users to take their 3D work into emerging Macromedia Flash arenas such as gaming, tours, education and e-commerce."
Swift 3D is a standalone application for designers to build and export 3D animations to the Macromedia Flash (SWF) file format, as well as other major vector and raster formats. FLASH ILLUMINATIONS highlights new Swift 3D vector rendering capabilities, photo-realistic raster rendering, SmartLayer Technology, and modeling and animation enhancements.
"FLASH ILLUMINATIONS is a great example of a project that utilizes the robust rich media features of Macromedia Flash MX," said Forest Key, senior product manager, Macromedia. "Macromedia Flash is paving the way for a new breed of web applications that combine rich media design with powerful backend programming capabilities."
As a bonus to all FLASH ILLUMINATIONS visitors, Electric Rain is providing free Macromedia Flash MX and Swift 3D tutorials along with the downloadable source code (FLA files) for each of the four projects. These free tutorials and files will allow Macromedia Flash users to deconstruct the inner workings of the projects, therefore providing a learning platform to enhance their Flash and 3D abilities.
FLASH ILLUMINATIONS is the most recent addition to a series of award-winning projects created with Swift 3D and Macromedia Flash.
