Known for years as a top Flash designer community site, were-here.com has expanded its resources to now include a larger collection of design and development forums and resources to cater to the now growing uses of Macromedia Flash, web applications and multimedia.
"New forums have been added such as 'Flash Remoting', 'Code Bank', 'Flash Com', and 'Web Apps' as a place to discuss innovative Flash and web development work." said Aaron Adams, Co-Founder of Were-Here.com, "There is a new breed of Flash application developers and We're Here needed to evolve to support the changing environment and needs of these developers and designers."
The were-here.com web site has just finished beta testing and community members are already posting Flash applications that exemplify Macromedia Flash MX as a web application platform. "These applications take advantage of the rich Internet application development environment that Macromedia Flash MX now offers," said Mike Chambers, Community Manager for Macromedia. "Its great to see were-here.com expand to accommodate the needs of this new era in Flash development."
In addition to providing informative development and design forums and resources, We're Here is working closely with innovative Flash developers to showcase their Flash applications as a part of the were-here.com site to improve and enhance the community experience. For example, the were-here.com front page features a Flash made Mini-Blog Reader application, courtesy of Hollowcube.com, allowing the We're Here visitor to read the first thread of popular web blogs without having to leave the We're Here site. We're Here will soon be launching a fully Flash enabled message board to run in parallel with its regular board, courtesy of Theory7.com, as well as a new Flash Comm based video messaging and chat application, courtesy of userplane.com. Lastly, Media Temple will be hosting the site providing lightning speed connections and Flash Communication Server access.
