Techbits

Greg
Techbits are a brain child of Greg Hess, who initially started them on the Discreet Forum, then moved them here to a permanent home; they are gathered, (chewed up) and processed by Greg Hess and Thomas Bruno, an all around good guys, hardware experts and 3DLuVr staff/contributing authors.

Whats that? P4 with DDR? Oh NO! We can't have that! That would increase the performance! If you haven't noticed, Intel is suing VIA over making a P4 DDR board because its cheaper and faster then Intel's RamBUST solution.

Who was more money? AMD or Intel? We'll find out as these two monolithic companies battle for table scraps of new technology. I'm still waiting for the halfling to come along and steal something. =)

Micron shows off some PC3300 DDR. Don't know what that is? Here let me rephrase it.

All the DDR you just BOUGHT is OBSOLETE. That better? Aren't computers great?

Happy about your new Ata-100 hard drive? Secure in the fact that you just bought the newest and fastest medium for the IDE interface. WRONG! No Soup for you!

Via smacks out with a new southbridge, supporting the ATA-133 interface. Its very useful when your harddrive only burst transfers under 30 megs a sec and you can only have two IDE drives on a chain.

Seems that the Geforce 3 Pro (Maybe the ultra) is going to be code named "Titanium". Not only will it be featuring faster core/mem speeds, but also some additional features. Geforce 3.5 anyone?

In case anyone missed it, HP decided it might be a good idea to go and buy compaq. Especially considering the current state of the economy and computer market. I'm sure HP had 35 billion dollars just sitting around. I wonder how many employees you have to fire to afford 35 billion dollars?

AMD and Intel Price cuts again. Around 10% for this one. Rediculous, just rediculous.

AMD's PR rating. Whats that? Its basically an intel equivilant rating. Example since a 1.4 Thunderbird destroys all of Intel's Processors right now, it might have a PR rating of PR1700. Meaning its equivilant to a 1.7 Ghz P4. This is AMD's attempt to beat intel at their own number game.
