NVIDIA Begins Shipping nForce4 SLI Processors Posted by: amigo Source: DMN Date: Wed Apr 20 2005 April 20, 2005 - NVIDIA Corporation announced that it has shipped more than 750,000 NVIDIA nForce(TM)4 SLI media and communication processors (MCPs) for the AMD64 market in the past five months.
Additionally, NVIDIA has started shipping its newly-announced NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Intel Edition MCPs designed for Intel Pentium 4 processors, including the upcoming dual-core Intel Pentium processor Extreme Edition and Pentium D processors.
NVIDIA SLI has effectively created a new category in the enthusiast PC space. Building on the momentum, NVIDIA has:
- Launched SLIzone.com, a Web site dedicated to the SLI community
- Expanded the SLI technology certification program for partners
" NVIDIA SLI is a revolutionary innovation that has completely redefined our business when targeting the extreme gamers," said Ravi Sood, CEO of VoodooPC (www.voodoopc.com), whose Rage SLI PC recently was awarded the prestigious Computer Gaming World Ultimate Gaming Machine Award. "This means when building the ultimate PC, we first start with an NVIDIA nForce4 SLI MCP, and then pair it with two high-end NVIDIA GeForce(TM) 6 graphics chips. The results are unmatched 3D performance, virtually untouched by any other configuration."
SLIzone.com
To support the growing number of users embracing SLI technology, NVIDIA has launched a new Web site dedicated to SLI technology and its users. Complementing the popular NVIDIA nZone Web site (www.nzone.com), the new SLIzone Web site (www.SLIzone.com) provides information on SLI technology including news, system builder information, tutorials, reviews, certifications, contests, and much more.
"SLI is a 'must-have' feature for PC enthusiasts. We encourage them to check out SLIzone, which contains information on where to buy -- or how to build -- a mind-blowing SLI PC," added Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop products at NVIDIA .
Certification Program
In addition, NVIDIA continues to bring stability, reliability, and support to this new platform through the NVIDIA SLI certification program. This program, which includes add-in cards, motherboards, power supplies, and computer systems for use with NVIDIA SLI technology, has expanded over the last 30 days. Over 80 products, including more than 30 graphics cards, six motherboards, and four power supplies have received certification under this program, with more products being added weekly. In addition, over 40 system builders worldwide are offering SLI technology-certified systems.
