If you are in located in Toronto or the area and have 50 CAD to spare, there's a one day introduction course in Houdini 5. They do require you to have min of 1 yr. 3D experience.
Houdini 5 Workshop: The Rollercoaster Course, an introductory course offers artists a day of hands-on creating in Houdini and is a great course for anyone new to Houdini. Houdini is the production-proven 3D toolset used by facilities around the world to create the spectacular visual effects for such projects as, "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "The Time Machine."
Through polygonal and procedural modeling, animation, lighting, compositing, rendering and more, this course will walk artists through building a complete scene of a roller coaster ride.
Using Houdini 5's new customizable handles, artists will also find tools for building and modifying elements directly and visually in the viewport, providing unprecedented levels of ease and control. Sample the freedom, flexibility, and power of Houdini at this incredibly affordable class. All attendees will receive a copy of Houdini Apprentice.
