RTzen Introduces New Release RT/shader, Code-Named Ginza Posted by: amigo Source: Press Release Date: Tue Aug 10 2004 Los Angeles, CA August 10, 2004 RTzen, Inc., a new company dedicated to empowering 3D artists, today previewed the next major milestone release of its RT/shader editing tool. Code-named Ginza, it allows 3D programmers and artists to create powerful new shaders that utilize advanced real-time effects like shadows, dynamic reflections and refractions, bloom and blur, as well as depth-of-field. Artists can also customize more of RT/shader via templates and custom High-Level Shader Graph nodes. These and other new features are on display in the booths of ATI Technologies and Discreet at this years SIGGRAPH show in Los Angeles, August 10-12, 2004.
RT/shader 1.0 is a ground-breaking product that enables artists to finally take control of the real-time shader creation process, said Jeremy Hubbell, president and CEO or RTZEN. With Ginza, weve added more power while also improving the workflow. Render-to-Texture effects, coupled with templates, Parallax mapping, and a host of other features not only proves that RTzen is serious about shaders, but by making these new features available as quickly as we can, were setting the pace for the rest of the industry.
More Power for Artists
Available since March, RT/shader is the industrys first 3D editing tool with the capability to automatically generate high-level shading language code in real-time, allowing artists of all experience levels to create sophisticated hardware shader effects quickly and easily. By adding these new features, RTzen is further streamlining the development processes and improving the artists ability to create unique and visually compelling game content.
RTzen has worked with several industry-leading companies to ensure seamless compatibility with the most popular 3D graphics software and hardware accelerator cards on the market. RT/shader is certified to work directly within leading software such as 3ds max from Discreet and Maya from Alias. It also is designed to be compatible with the installed base of Microsoft DirectX 9.0 compatible 3D graphics accelerator boards that support programmable hardware shaders, such as those from ATI Technologies and NVIDIA Corporation.
