Los Angeles, CA - SIGGRAPH (Booth 1312) - August 10 2004 - Alias announced today that Maya(R) Unlimited software for the Mac OS(R) X operating system is now available to purchase globally from the Alias web site and from authorized Alias resellers. Maya Unlimited is priced at $6,999(1) and includes all features found in Maya(R) Complete software plus advanced special effects which include Maya Hair, Maya Fluid Effects(TM), Maya Fur(TM), Maya Cloth(TM) and Maya Live. First announced on stage at the Apple(R) World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, today's shipping announcement confirms an on schedule delivery.
Devoted Mac(R) computer user Gary Jaeger of Core Studio comments, "Most of our animation work is done on the Mac, so having Unlimited available is fantastic. We've been beta testing the software and are already using the fluids to build a tornado in a music video, and having access to hair, fur and cloth will allow us to go after shots we might otherwise have contracted out." He adds, "we have a small shop, so we're our own technical directors. The fact that we can now have the Macs working on shots which in the past we would have had to complete on the PC's is monumental for our workflow."
Alias and Apple Collaborate With Advanced Technologies to Benefit Artists and Programmers
Maya Unlimited leverages the Apple advanced technology to take advantage of the benefits found with the latest Apple computer offerings. Features of Maya for Mac OS X include: recent conversion of Maya to a Mach-O application, allowing plug-in developers to use Xcode(TM) software from the Apple Developers Tools, AppleScript(R) application program support for Maya Embedded Language (MEL(TM) - the Maya scripting language); Quartz(R) graphics display technology for marking menus and hotbox; the implementation of the QuickTime(R) application program throughout the entire package, from file reading to direct output from Maya renders to QuickTime; and QuickTime output for the Maya playblast command.

Maya Unlimited 6 for all platforms is priced at $6,999(1) and includes modeling, rendering, animation, dynamics, Maya Artisan(TM), Maya Paint Effects(TM), mental ray for Maya, MEL, along with Maya Unlimited specific features: Maya Hair, Maya Fluid Effects, Maya Fur, Maya Cloth and Maya Live. Maya Unlimited is available for the Windows(R), Linux(R) and IRIX(R) operating systems. Maya Unlimited for Mac OS X operating system is now available to purchase through authorized Alias resellers or at http://www.alias.com.
Maya Unlimited for Mac OS X operating system users will not need to download Maya 6.0.1 issued as a maintenance release on August 9th, 2004, since the Maya Unlimited for Mac OS X operating system was built on Maya 6.0.1.
Maya Complete 6 for the Windows, IRIX, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems is priced at $1,999(1) and, is available to purchase through the Alias network of authorized resellers or online at: http://www.alias.com.
