REALVIZ to Launch ImageModeler 4 for Windows at SIGGRAPH'04
Posted by: amigo
Source: Press Release
 Date: Thu Aug 05 2004
Sophia Antipolis, France - August 5, 2004 - REALVIZ, a leader in image processing software development, has chosen Siggraph 2004 as the setting for the launch of REALVIZ ImageModeler 4.0, the latest version of their award-winning image based 3D modeling software. Using advanced algorithms, ImageModeler extracts 3D information from stills to help measure the 3D space created and construct accurate 3D models with highly realistic textures. The resulting model can be exported in your favorite authoring package. Version 4.0 of ImageModeler (Windows) is available from this month, with a Macintosh release slated for Q4 2004. The REALVIZ team will be demonstrating ImageModeler 4.0 along with their other flagship products, including REALVIZ MatchMover Pro, ReTimer Pro, and the very latest addition to their award-winning software portfolio, StoryViz 1.0 at booth #956 throughout Siggraph, which takes place, at the Los Angeles Convention Center from 10.-12. August 2004.

REALVIZ ImageModeler is a multifaceted application, which can be employed by 3D content creators working in a wide variety of industries for the modeling of scenes or buildings for architectural purposes, for calculations and 3D surveys from photographs, for creating 3D virtual visits and photo-realistic backdrops, as well as human modeling, industrial design, animation and special effects, or for the simple creation of photo-realistic objects compatible with Web 3D formats. ImageModeler drastically improves workflow processes and productivity levels, whilst enabling the accurate re-creation of even the most complex of objects or scenes.

Version 4.0 offers a number of powerful feature enhancements, which have been specifically developed to meet the demands of 3D content creators, including:

- A 3D/2D Integration Tool, which facilitates the accurate integration of existing 3D projects into 2D photographs
- A UV Mapping Editor, which enables users to edit the uv mapping of textures
- The possibility to apply textures already obtained from other sources
- New Calibration Constraints: particularly useful when integrating new projects
- Quicktime VR Object Movie export, enabling users to publish/share their models
- SnapShot, which exports an image of the 3d scene as a jpg file

Version 4.0 also includes; new modeling constraints, including axis guide, and distance snapping; a new flexible world space tool, to allow the definition of more complex coordinate systems and metrics; support of Exif headers; improved interactions, including; QuickZoom, Interactive Shot Matching, Zoom/Pan outside the viewport, Selection of buffer settings.

"ImageModeler, a product based on photogrammetry techniques, is still a non-conventional tool, but more and more people understand that it's a unique way to capture various data (points, 3d objects, measurements, textures etc.) in scale and with great accuracy, and just from standard photographs. We've added some nice improvements to version 4.0 for existing users, but these should also interest new users and whole communities as well who need to make precise in-site integration. For cultural preservation, for example. We've listened closely to the needs of our customers, to improve the software's workflow and usability, and will continue to do so in the future." Stephane Nullans, Product Manager - REALVIZ ImageModeler

"I've been developing efficient visual effects production techniques using REALVIZ ImageModeler over the past 2 years. The intuitive step-by-step interface of ImageModeler, combined with accurate photo calibration and adaptive texturing capabilities made it the most logical choice for projects under rigid time constraints." Mike Breymann, USA (www.mikebreymann.com)
