 Avid to Showcase Latest Solutions at SIGGRAPH 2004 Posted by: amigo

Avid Technology, Inc. today announced that it will showcase its latest 3-D production, digital asset management, and nonlinear video editing and finishing solutions at the SIGGRAPH 2004 conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques - scheduled to take place August 8-12 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. All of Avid's technologies will be featured in booth # 1547, and introductory and advanced training will take place on the show floor and at an off-site location.
SOFTIMAGE 3-D PRODUCTION SOLUTIONS
Avid subsidiary Softimage Co. will showcase the latest version of its SOFTIMAGE|XSI 3-D production environment. SOFTIMAGE|XSI version 4.0 delivers enhancements in character animation, including the Character Development Kit; new and enhanced simulation effects, such as Rigid Body Dynamics, Hair, and Cloth; open architecture and customization features, including the unique Custom Display Host foreign application integration system; and advanced rendering technology, with the industry's only native integration of the mental ray 3.3 renderer.
ALIENBRAIN DIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS
Avid will also demonstrate the latest versions of its Alienbrain Studio and Alienbrain VFX digital asset management solutions - which continue to build momentum as the standard for production asset management across games, film, simulation, and other content-creation industries. Alienbrain customers such as Microsoft's XBOX Platform Experience team will be on hand to demonstrate how the Alienbrain system has improved the efficiency and security of the content-creation process. AVID NONLINEAR VIDEO EDITING AND FINISHING SOLUTIONS
For video postproduction customers, Avid will showcase version 7.5 of its Avid DS Nitris and Avid DS Nitris Editor systems - the industry's most powerful real-time finishing systems for SD, HD, and digital intermediates 2K/4K projects. This latest version of the Avid DS Nitris family offers extensive new editing, compositing, and workflow capabilities, and introduces support for Avid DNxHD - a revolutionary 10-bit HD encoding technology that enables collaborative HD postproduction via the Avid Unity MediaNetwork with the same storage bandwidth and capacity requirements as SD files.
In addition, Avid will demonstrate its new Avid Xpress Studio system, the industry's first all-in-one content creation suite for DV professionals. Scheduled to ship in late June 2004, the Avid Xpress Studio combines five powerful software applications - Avid Xpress Pro, Avid Pro Tools LE, Avid 3D, Avid FX, and Avid DVD by Sonic - with professional audio and video hardware options that include the Digidesign Mbox USB audio peripheral, the eight-fader Digi 002 controller, and the Avid Mojo Digital Nonlinear Accelerator (Avid DNA).
ONSITE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL SEMINARS
Introductory, hands-on training sessions for the SOFTIMAGE|XSI, Alienbrain Studio, and Avid Xpress Studio systems will take place in booth # 1561. In addition, advanced training for the Avid Xpress Studio system will be offered at an off-site location.
