 Vital Idea's Announces New Photorealistic Rendering Solution Posted by: amigo Source: Press Release Date: Tue Apr 20 2004 Las Vegas, NV - April 20, 2004 - Vital Idea Inc, a provider of technical products and services for broadcast, film, simulation, and game development, announced today it plans to sell a new photorealistic rendering solution. This will augment its Crowd!(tm) Behavioral Animation System. The new package, dubbed Shogun!(tm), is compliant with Pixar's RenderMan(R) standard.
Shogun!(tm) provides support for global illumination, raytracing, and reyes-style rendering. Additionally, its Katana!(tm) Shading Language provides the ability to build and compile shaders, as well as, extend them with expressions. Rendered images may be output in a wide variety of formats, including High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI).
The rendering solution is part of a full line of 3D graphics solutions developed by Vital Idea for the Film, Broadcast, and Interactive markets. Their aim is to provide professional production grade products at affordable prices.
Though in relatively small parts, Shogun!(tm) has already been used to render elements for such productions as Hellboy, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Van Helsing. The product is also currently being used in other film and commercial spots by Vital Idea for its professional services clients.
Availability and Pricing
The Shogun!(tm) 1.0 rendering system is expected to be available in Q3 2004. Pricing will be set at a flat fee for the entire CD-ROM/Manual package with no further per-node licensing fees. The final public price is yet to be announced.
