 Date: Wed Mar 24 2004
San Jose, CA - Mar. 24, 2004) - NVIDIA Corporation, the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today announced the availability of a new software development kit (NVSDK) for 3D artists and programmers. NVSDK, led by NVIDIA's new FX Composer tool, arms developers with a comprehensive development environment for the creation and optimization of advanced shader effects, specifically those enabled by Microsoft(R) DirectX(R) 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 (Pixel Shader 3.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0).

"The latest NVSDK gives developers the software tools they need to create and deploy advanced shader effects more quickly and efficiently," said Mark Daly, vice president of content development at NVIDIA. "With tools like FX Composer, developers actively working with DirectX 9.0 are encouraged to push the envelope with new levels of visual effects, knowing that NVIDIA will soon deliver a high-performance graphics hardware platform that is able to exploit DirectX 9.0 to its fullest."

Shader Model 3.0 enables developers to achieve a class of film-quality effects never before possible in real-time game rendering. NVIDIA's native support for this technology advancement in its next-generation hardware platform presents an exciting opportunity for developers, as it allows for the adoption of more flexible and natural programming methods. The results will yield a higher caliber of visually stunning games with distinct improvements in materials, lighting, and scene complexity that mirror real-world situations.

FX Composer delivers a high-powered, integrated developer environment, with unique real-time preview, shader optimization, and de-bugging features. With this tool, developers will be able to more efficiently create and tune advanced shader effects, and then simulate performance across the entire award-winning family of GeForce(TM) FX GPUs.

In addition to FX Composer, the NVSDK provides developers with a wealth of resources, including whitepapers, presentations, and demos. For more information or to download NVSDK, please visit http://developer.nvidia.com .
