IRIDAS To Showcase SpeedGrade at IBC
Posted by: amigo
Source: Press Release
 Date: Tue Sep 09 2003
Munich, Germany -September 9, 2003- IRIDAS, a leading innovator of high-performance Digital Intermediate solutions for the film, broadcast and digital content creation industries, will demonstrate its innovative SpeedGrade colour correction technology at IBC2003. Visitors will be able to see first-hand how this application makes it possible to do colour work at all stages of the post-production process. Earlier this year, SpeedGrade met with enthusiastic response from industry professionals at SIGGRAPH 2003.

"We were blown away when we saw SpeedGrade this summer," said David Basta, senior technical director at Lumeni Productions in Glendale, California.
"What we like most is its flexibility, both in terms of workflow and the fact that we are not forced to buy a whole black box solution just to get it. We have always found IRIDAS products to be bullet proof and this one really fills a vital niche."

SpeedGrade allows for non-destructive colour correction. Rather than changing the source material, the application attaches XML-based color correction parameters to sequence playlists. Using XML greatly simplifies exporting colour information to asset management, compositing, and editing applications. Because it is a software solution it can be integrated into existing PC-based hardware or configured with IRIDAS' hardware partners according to a facility's exact needs.

"SpeedGrade will change the way film-makers work with colour," said Michael Gallo, IRIDAS vice president of product development. "It significantly expands the tool set which is currently available to postproduction teams and allows for a much more efficient and open approach to the workflow. Colour correction can now begin right after the first scans are done--or even on-set--and worked on through the entire pipeline. Gone are the days when post houses were forced to wait until everything else was finished before they could even start grading the film."

IRIDAS will also be demonstrating the latest upgrades to the FrameCycler line of uncompressed playback applications. The new FrameCycler 2.7 versions offer increased performance speed, sophisticated new audio playback tools, precision timing controls for broadcast applications, and support for additional file formats.

IRIDAS will offer demonstrations of SpeedGrade and FrameCycler 2.7 at the DVC Digitalvideo Computing/Kinoton stand (6.104) and at the Miranda stand (8.241). The IBC2003 Exhibition takes place at the Amsterdam RAI this September 12 through 16. SpeedGrade is scheduled for release later this autumn. FrameCycler 2.7 will be released next week.
