 Alias is Everywhere at SIGGRAPH 2003 Posted by: amigo Source: Press Release Date: Mon Jul 28 2003 San Diego, CA � SIGGRAPH - July 28, 2003 � Alias Systems, a Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) company, kicked off SIGGRAPH� this week with AGUA� - its annual Alias� Global Users Association meeting. More than 1,800 industry professionals and 3D enthusiasts joined Alias and its customers ESC Entertainment, Charlex and SuckerPunch Productions in showing off industry leading projects and the recently announced Alias ImageStudio � Alias� newest product.
Just prior to SIGGRAPH, Alias announced its 20th anniversary and name change along with new products Alias StudioTools 11, Alias PortfolioWall� 1.6 and Alias ImageStudio. Alias announced today Maya Personal Learning Edition� 5 which will be available at the Alias booth and the Alias online store as part of a Learning Maya� Beginner�s Guide. Downloads of Maya Personal Learning Edition 5 will begin in Fall 2003. Along with new software announcements, Alias is also launching 10 new Maya Learning Tools� at the show, including new books for learning Maya� 5.

Jos Stam, a renowned Alias research scientist will make multiple presentations during the papers and panels session at the conference - Keyframe Control of Smoke Animations with colleagues from the University of Washington and Flows on Surfaces of Arbitrary Topology.
George W. Fitzmaurice, Gordon Kurtenbach and Azam Khan, from the Alias product development group will co-present a paper titled: Boom Chameleon: Simultaneous Capture of 3D Viewpoint, Voice and Gesture Annotations on a Spatially Aware Display along with Bill Buxton, Buxton Design and Michael Tsang, University of Toronto.
