Source: Press Release
 Date: Wed Jul 23 2003
Montreal, QC - Jul. 22, 2003 - Kaydara Inc., a leader in 3D character animation and motion capture technologies, today announced the support of Alias for the Kaydara FBX authoring file format. A free Kaydara FBX-Maya(r) plug-in, which provides Maya software users with a seamless pathway for the acquisition and exchange of 3D data, will be bundled on the Maya CD and posted on the Kaydara and Alias Web sites. This free FBX-Maya plug-in enables visual effects and animation artists to access a wealth of content through Kaydara's extensive network of FBX applications.

"The FBX architecture ensures the highest standard for 3D content interchange," says Rob Hoffmann, senior Maya manager. "The availability of the FBX-Maya plug-in will significantly benefit Maya users by giving them access to the wealth of content available online and ensures a clear pipeline for exchanging content."

Kaydara's FBX is the most utilized 3D file interchange format for content creators wishing to acquire, author, and re-purpose 3D and mixed-media data. FBX is widely supported by 3D content and streaming media vendors.

"Maya is one of the industry's most widely used animation packages and an essential addition to the FBX community," said Jean-Jacques Hermans, vice-president of marketing and business development for Kaydara. "The FBX-Maya plug-in will provide Maya users with an important pipeline for sharing data and quickly re-targeting legacy content saving valuable time and streamlining the production process."

Kaydara FBX is a powerful platform-independent 3D authoring and interchange format that provides access to 3D content from a wide variety of applications and source material providers. FBX is a binary file format that supports all the major 3D data, as well as 2D, audio, and video media elements, and allows users to maximize their content creation pipeline by letting them create cutting edge content without having to worry about inter-package compatibility. Used for over five years in production studios worldwide, FBX has proven itself a versatile, accurate, and dependable authoring and data transfer format.
